My Experience with Foxtail Coffee Co.

I’ve had the opportunity to visit multiple Foxtail Coffee Co. locations in Florida and think they have some unique offerings, including multiple brewed to order options (french press, pour over, and siphon) as well as various hot teas, chai lattes, matcha lattes, iced tea, hot chocolate, cold brew coffee, and bakery items. In some location’s, Foxtail Coffee Co. serves Kelly’s Ice Cream alongside the drink options. It is far less common to see the french press and siphon brewing options on cafe menus but I hope that is something that changes.

The cafes I visited didn’t have soda fountains and had limited drink options that are not barista prepared. Some of the alternative drink options included bottled waters, a small selection of bottled soda, and bottled juices.

November 2024

    • This location is in the Tommy Hilfiger outlet, but it is a full services cafe with bakery items, coffee, seating, and signage that you’d see in a standalone Foxtail Coffee Co. location.

My Order:

  • Barista prepared Guji Ethiopia, Light Roast, via french press
  • 340g bag of Guji Ethiopia, Light Roast with a roast date of Nov. 22nd
    • Published Flavor Notes: Floral, Raspberry, Blueberry

In November of 2024, I was in the Orlando area and visited Foxtail Coffee Co. for the first time. While in the cafe, I enjoyed a single origin Ethiopia coffee prepared in a French Press. I wanted a pour over but the menu indicated that the pour over option was unavailable; no worries, there were plenty of great options for preparation. Light roasted coffee’s that are brewed using the french press method can taste great if done right and Foxtail Coffee Co. got this one right. Tasting notes aligned with those described for this coffee, there was plenty of clarity and mouthfeel wasn’t overly heavy.

When brewing this coffee at home, I found it to be roasted well, with high clarity and that classic Ethiopia blueberry aroma and flavor. The coffee delivered consistently smooth cups of coffee in all filter brew methods.

  • 340g bag of Risaralda Colombia, Medium Roast with a roast date of Jan. 11th
    • Published Flavor Notes: Sweet, Citrus, Cinnamon, Almonds

The second time I visited Foxtail Coffee Co. I decided to try the a medium roast Colombia coffee brewed using a french press. This coffee demonstrated the published cinnamon and almond flavors well but lacked the sweet and citrus attributes I expected. These flavor’s may have been masked by the notable roasty flavor I noticed with the coffee prepared in the cafe. I expect the coffee in the cafe had very little rest time prior to making it into my cup. When I brewed the bagged coffee at home, the roasty flavor was no longer present and the coffee’s sweetness & citrus like acidy were much more noticeable.
